The national headquarters of Survitec Australia recently hosted a visit by Dr Mike Kelly AM MP, Federal Minister for Defence Material. Dr Kelly's core portfolio responsibilities relate to the acquisition and sustainment of platforms and equipment for the Australian Defence Force.
Survitec is a key supplier of equipment to the Australian Army, Air Force and Navy. Globally the Survitec brand is held in the highest esteem for their technical excellence and quality of equipment for personnel and survival systems.
Following his visit to Survitec in Auburn Sydney, Dr Kelly was glowing in his praise of the work being undertaken by Survitec and the support staff.
"It has been great to see the exceptional and dedicated work being performed at Survitec here in Auburn," Dr Kelly said.
"The people here are doing a crucial job that keeps our service men and women safe. I am highly impressed by the quality of Survitec's life rafts and survival systems that I have seen today."
During his time at the Survitec facility, Dr Kelly inspected key areas of the operation. This included areas where pressure tanks used by Navy divers are tested, a lab dedicated to servicing sonar equipment and workshops where Navy life rafts and Marin-Ark systems are tested, serviced and repacked before being deployed back into operational vessels.
While the Australian Defence Force depends on Survitec for the supply and routine maintenance of equipment purchased in Australia, many of the systems on board RAAF aircraft and RAN vessels acquired by the ADF from overseas arrive with Survitec equipment installed. Survitec is a global leader across many defence systems. These include diving, immersion suits, inflatable shelters, life jackets, life rafts, pilot flight equipment and submarine escape and immersion equipment.
On hand to host Dr Kelly through the facility were Survitec Managing Director, Mark Barker together with Martin Dowling, Alex Morozoff and Abhi Trivedi.
"Everyone at Survitec was proud to show Dr Kelly the work that we do here at our Auburn facility," Mark Barker said.
"It has been gratifying to have the Minister actually visit us and see the good work that we do for our Defence Force."
