RFD began in 1920 with the development of inflatable flotation bags to support early aircraft from disaster should they come down in the sea. The concept was a success and the RFD Company was established in Surrey, UK.

RFD liferafts and dinghies were employed during World War 2 where they saved the lives of thousands of allied personnel. Today, RFD liferafts and lifejackets are used by shipping, airlines and defence forces here in Australia as well as overseas.

RFD is taken from the initials of the company founder, Reginald Foster Dagnall. The RFD name is now synonymous with “Rapid Floatation Device” and the supply of first quality marine and aviation safety equipment.

RFD Fire & Safety is the division looking after the various aspects of fire extinguisher supply, re-charging and servicing, marine carbon dioxide systems, sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, hose reels and fire doors, fire detection & alarm systems, emergency lighting systems and more.

RFD Technologies deal with the concept, design, build, supply and service of various air compressor and booster systems, gas distribution and hose assemblies, SCUBA supply, service & certification, air & gas cylinder testing & filling and more.
